I switched from google classic site to new and am having trouble getting domain to link to the new site. I was on phone w godaddy tech support and they got google support on the line and said there was something else I needed to do and I was about to be transferred to google but then realized it was for a free site and said they couldn't support me. Is it obvious what I need to do? ps. I read the thread about this from april but it doesn't solve my issue

In the CNAME for www, '@' should be changed to 'ghs.googlehosted.com'.
Then underneath the DNS records add Domain Forwarding, use 301 redirect (no masking) to your domain with www (www.yourdomain.com).
Also make sure you've done the steps to verify your domain with Google.
